Monrovia Station is a future light rail station in the Los Angeles County Metro Rail system. It will be located near the intersection of Duarte Road and Myrtle Avenue in Monrovia, California. When it reopens, this station will be served by the Metro Gold Line. [1][2]
This station is currently approved for design/construction as part of the Gold Line Foothill Extension project Phase 2A. It is expected to reopen in 2015. [3]
The station will reuse the former Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway depot, built 1926.

Future Metro Rail service
Gold Line Foothill Extension service to this station is anticipated to begin in 2015.
Location and design
The city of Monrovia is planning to create a transit-oriented district around near its station. The district, known as the "Station Square Transit Village Mixed Use District", will be designed to feature mixed retail, residential and office uses, with pedestrian amenities and connections.[4] Plans are to restore/renovate the historic 1926 Monrovia Santa Fe train station depot at the location, though the actual use of the station is not yet determined. [5][6]
Vehicle maintenance facility
The Gold Line Authority and Metro are planning to build a new Maintenance and Operations (M&O) Facility in Monrovia, east of Monrovia station. The 27-acre (110,000 m2) facility will service, clean and store light-rail vehicles for Metro's growing fleet, with a total storage capacity of 104 vehicles. The facility will be located just north of the ROW between California Avenue and Shamrock Avenue. It is expected to cost $53 million. [7][8]
As of September 2010, the Gold Line Authority is preparing a Supplemental Environmental Impact Report (SEIR) for this facility, as well as other changes to the project.
