    Muff Potter has been arrested for the death of Dr. Robinson.  Joe has convinced Potter that he killed the doctor during the struggle, before he was knocked unconscious, and Potter believes him.  However, during the trial, Tom takes the stand.  Tom tells of everything he saw in the graveyard, and Potter is shown to be not guilty.  Injun Joe runs from the courthouse in order to evade being arrested.
