I identified one of Tom Sawyer's escapades where he knows that Ms. Watson has passed but continues to hold Jim captive in order to entertain himself with other fantastic escape plans. Can u identify anymore with reference to the book. 

I believe that that event happens in "Huck Finn" and not "Tom Sawyer." It demonstrates that Tom represents the ideals and romantic notions of European customs, while Huck represents, the pragmatic, practical side of early EAmerican life. Tom's approach to cleaning the picket fence by getting others to whitewash the fence flies in the nature of Franklin's attitude about a good day's work. There are so many others but by running counter to the existing cultural bases, the friend's behavior is emphasized and highlighted.
