Dill is desperately looking for attention. He has been ignored by his mother and new father, treated with apathy, and he needs to find a way to feel that he is being listened to. The neglect he has suffered from is also what caused him to run away from to hide under Scout's bed. He goes to the Finch house because Jem and Scout, as his friends, always listened. But, more importantly, Atticus and Calpurnia also listened. Dill needs more of that reinforcement from adults for his sense of self and self-esteem.
