Summary
Reverend Smith openly condemns Mr. Brown’s policy of compromise, and he suspends a woman from the church who has allowed her heathen husband to mutilate her dead ogbanje child. Overzealous converts who smarted under Mr. Brown now flourish. Enoch, the son of the snake priest who is believed to have eaten the sacred python, sparks a great conflict between the church and clan in Umuofia....
