Ekwefi tells Ezinma a story about the Tortoise. It was a time of famine, and all the birds were invited to a feast in the sky. Tortoise, a great orator, convinced the birds to take him along. He told them to select new names for the feast. Tortoise took the name “All of you.” The men in the sky thought Tortoise was the king of the birds and declared they had prepared the feast for “all of you.” Since that was Tortoise’s new name,...
