3. Rita Catherine Hogan Burch, his mother.
4. Larry, George, and Walter his elder brothers, and Gene his baby brother. Jerome another brother who is sickly and spends most of his time in the hospital.
5. Martha, the cook whom he befriended in one of the foster homes.
6. Sal, the city busdriver who provides him with what he has yearned always yearned for - a home.
