For themes in Their Eyes Were Watching God can finding self idenity be one of them? what about marriage?

Im writing a paper for english class and right now im trying to come up with a thesis statement using a theme from the story. I thought self idenitiy and marriage because each of Janies marriages represents a new part of Janies life it helps her discover her self idenitiy can anyone help to make sure if im on the right track?

    I think that this is a great topic. Yes, each marriage does represent a new phase in Janie's life, and one could certainly make the argument that Their Eyes is a coming of age story. For Janie, to experience life to the fullest extent is through a marriage based on love and equality, which she ultimately achieves through her marriage with Tea Cake (although one could refute the claim that their relationship is equal). Your starting point should be in chapter 2. As Janie lies beneath the pear tree, she reflects on marriage and its capacity for fulfillment.
