Janie is left to think about her marriage to Logan Killicks. She wonders about the connection between love and marriage, but convinces herself that they will love each other after they are married. They are married at the Washburn place, and Janie leaves to live at the Killicks’ farm. After two-and-a-half months, Janie returns to Nanny for advice.
