Why was the Boatswain so rude to his passengers in The Tempest?

Because they were on deck and in the way as they were trying to secure the boat during the "Tempest"

Because the boatswain thinks that the richer passengers are in the way, and he knows that on his ship, he is the highest rank and he can boss anyone around. The passengers are also rude to him.
