Act II shows us what is happening on the other parts of the island, away from Prospero's home - the survivors of the shipwreck, as well as introducing Caliban, who has been Prospero's slave.

Give Act II a closer re-read and see what all is happening in this act.  Though Propsero does not appear, he is still an important part of this act because of the events he has set in motion.
