How? Prospero calls out and Ariel appears. The relationship seems a straightforward master-slave or servant relationship. He gives orders, and Ariel follows them. He praises Ariel for this, and uses Ariel as a sounding board (just a bit)

well he hears ariel moaning in the tree and with his magic he releases him and then ariel promises to serve him for saving him from dying in the tree where sycorax had trapped him and then unfortunatley died.
