Middle School Teacher
The importance of selection of materials cannot be overstated as it will impact everything within that course. In developing a curriculum, one first has to know what outcomes are required so that the curriculum teaches what students must know. Then the materials to achieve those outcomes must be decided. Then, the activities must be chosen which use those materials in such a way that students may not cheat, must do the activities to achieve the knowledge, hopefully will enjoy the activities, and then must be able to prove their knowledge on the assessments. If the right materials are not selected which will achieve good outcomes, the curriculum will require further evaluation and changes to achieve the desired outcomes.
