Among Mycetes’ greatest concerns were the raids of Tamburlaine, the Scythian shepherd who had become a bandit. Because it was rumored that this robber chief aspired to rule the East, Mycetes sent Theridamas with a thousand troops to capture Tamburlaine, and he ordered another lord named Menaphon to follow Theridamas.
