Suttree | Characters
The cast of characters in Suttree is impressively large. It includes some of Suttree's family members, but mostly they are his acquaintances and friends. An often-quoted passage near the end of the novel accurately describes Suttree's usual companions as "thieves, derelicts, miscreants, pariahs, poltroons, spalpeens, curmudgeons, clot-polls, murderers, gamblers, bawds, whores, trulls, brigands, topers, tosspots, sots and archsots, lobcocks, smell-smocks, runagates, rakes and other assorted and felonious debauchees."
