The word misogyny has been around since the 16 hundreds,  It is a word that basically means the hate of women.  A misogynist is a person who hates women.  In the story "Stud City,"  Edward "Chico" May is the main character.  This character is from a sub story within the novella, "The Body." by Stephen King.  The novella is included in the book called "Different Seasons," which includes four separate novellas.

In my opinon Chico is not a misogynist.  Chico is an angry and bitter 19 year-old who has lost his brother.  The story opens with him having his first sexual experience with a girl from school.  Jenny is trying to get his attention, but he just acts like he doesn't care about her.  He is not a woman hater, he simply doesn't seem to care one way or another about Jenny's feelings.  He is too wrapped up in his own emotions to give any attention to her.

A misogynist hates women, abuses women, and mistreats them.  I don't see this in Chico, or even in the theme of "The Body."

    Hope this helps.
