   This sonnet seems to be answering to a suspicious friend or lover. He has been gone, and is refuting that he has been unfaithful. The poet recognizes that it seems as if while he was away his feelings have changed or lessened, but he denies that this is true. His place is still with this person, "That is my home of love"(line5).

   There seems to be some incident for which he feels the need to explain himself, because he says"So that myself bring water for my stain"(line 8). The poet needs to wash away some transgression that he has committed, yet he still does not come out and ask for forgiveness. He seems to be saying that "if" he strayed, it meant nothing and he is coming home to this person.

   He ends the sonnet with his protestation that he realizes that she means everything to him with , "Save thou, my rose, in it thou art my all"(line 14). The poet is saying that this person is everything to him.
