Walt Whitman's "Song of Myself" asserts that "every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you". He believes in the interconnectedness of all human beings. He sees spirituality in this connectedness. Whitman also asserts godlike properties. He says that his "armpit aroma [is] finer than prayer". He is not saying this to be blasphemous. He says this because he sees aspects of god in the sensual nature of humanity. Rather than believing in one god, he believes that everything in the universe is a part of god.
