Although that is a very sad story, but when you consider the world around you, there are bigger things to cover. And many of these things are not covered at all. For example, I live in New York and I see a lot of homeless people. When was the last time a person wrote a piece on the homeless? There is religious persecution going on in various countries of the world, no one really covers that as well. We could multiply the problems that are not addressed.

There are also practical problems. There are not enough reporters around to write things up.

Finally, there is the appetite of the audience. What do people want to hear? After all, new is a business. They need their ratings.
