I am doing research on functionalism, conflict and interactionism perspectives and mass media. Any suggestions how to find research on this topic? Posted by dannisteen on Sep 6, 2008. |

Tricky. When researching several perspectives, it is usually best to research each perspective individually. This will give you a much larger pool of research to draw from. It will also allow you to draw your own conclusions as you compare the different perspectives. I would google the terms individually. For example "functionalism mass media" then "conflict mass media" then "interactionism mass media." When doing an Internet search you don't need to include common words such as "and" "in" or "the" since they don't help to refine your search. Depending on the purpose of the research, you may want to limit your search to scholarly articles (click on "more" above the google bar, then select "Scholar"). The benefit of this is that the information will be more reliable and scientific, the drawback is that they can be more challenging to read and synthesize. Good luck!
