Truth relates to what you speak or communicate about any thing. Reality about the things as they are. Opposite of truth is lie or falsehood. I cannot think of a clear opposite of reality, depending on the context it could be any of imagination, expectation, assumption and the like.

A person may describe what he believes to be reality, then he is being truthful, even when his belief are incorrect.

It is easy to see that what one believes may not necessarily be the truth.  How often do people live in denial and cannot accept the fact that one is either disadvantaged or not doing the level of something that they should be doing, or someone might think they are popular but that may not be the case.

You should easily be able to write a paper on truth vs reality when it deals with characters who might be living a lie or some type of illusion, which is very common in today's vain, materialistic world.

Building on epollack's post, the characters who have had the procedure in Eternal Sunshine are living what they believe to be reality, but their reality has had significant areas of truth blotted out. So while they are living what they believe to be truth and reality, it is only true for them, and their now limited awareness. Reality is different for the characters in the movie, depending on how much they know.

If we are looking at the film, the characters' experiences determines what constitutes "truth" and "reality."  In being able to remove elements from their mind, the idea of both is rendered as contingent on conditions and circumstances.  Their understanding of both truth and reality and the ability to remove these from their mind makes both concepts contingent on the chraacters' experiences.  Even though the actions that caused pain and hurt still exist, in some form or another, the characters' themselves can deny their existence through the negation of them in the mind.  Therefore, reality and truth become contingent on the individual.  The implications of this are powerful:  All truth, all reality is completely dependent on the individual's will.  This is what makes the film philosophically profound.
