A good way to start is to visit your school's Guidance Department and ask for an aptitude test, or find aptitude tests online. These tests ask you questions about your interests and reveal what areas you would probably be successful in.

Another way to figure out what you might be interested in doing as a career is to make a list of all the things you love to do. List your hobbies, talents, favorite subjects, etc. Then go through that list and think of jobs that use those skills and talents. It helps to talk to lots of people like parents, family members, teachers, and counselors who can advise you.

I think everybody feels the same way you do. Besides visiting your guidance counselor, you might try some of the interest inventories to help find where you might best fit. Try these:

I agree seek guidance from your counselor and talk about what interests you and by discussing and doing a little soul searching you will come across a career path.  Also do not feel that there is only one career out there for you. Life is about exploring options and finding out who you are.  The best advice I have to give to you is look within yourself and reflect on your interests, talents, and what you want to provide to this world.  No matter what find a career that has meaning and gives back to the community in some way and form.

I think it is important, as well, as someone else mentioned, to really ask yourself what your interests are, what you are good at, and what contributions you want to make to your community, region, country, and world.  Seeing out the help of a guidance counselor is a great idea!  Also, in college, they have career centers where you can go to get help in this area.  For example, my college has a career center that tests students' strengths, etc.; they also offer assistance in placing people in particular jobs that are part-time and full-time.  Good luck in your search!

First and foremost it is not uncommon to not know what you're planning on doing for the rest of your life even through the first two years of college. In this matter, however, it is crucial to utilize your respective school's guidance department and academic counseling department. They can help identify not only careers that would satisfy your strengths but also satisfy your interests and they can help guide you through majors and classes which apply to that certain profession. Don't fret because most people have no idea what they want to do.
