Only a 16 year old girl who has had an abortion or someone very close to her can give you the answer to this question. She would have to deal with emotional, physical, spiritual, and who knows what other issues. Posted by linda-allen on Sep 26, 2008. |

I agree with the previous answer. The effects of abortion are great and it is not a decision that should ever, ever be taken lightly. There would be physical effects, emotional effects, and spiritual and philosophical effects, possibly. An abortion would be something that a woman would never forget and could have long-term emotional effects, along with others. A healthcare professional would be the appropriate person to adequately discuss the effects of an abortion with. Posted by kwoo1213 on Sep 27, 2008. |

I agree. Maybe your local department of human resources and health department has some information on this topic. There are several effects that might happen. Her physical well-being and emotional state. Also, you might need to look at the effects that come on after the teenager is married and wants to have children. Does she then realize her decision with a different perspective? Posted by sbinkowski on Nov 16, 2008. |

When we were 17, my best friend opted to have an abortion. She had a very rough time. Very rough. The realization that she was killing her unborn baby threw her into a deep depression where she needed to see a therapist and take medication. The physical pain was pretty intense too. She didn't have complications after the procedure, but she was very sore, tired, cramping and her hormone production was inconsistant because she was pregnant then she wasn't. She ended up getting some pretty bad acne and rosacea (sp?), but that cleared up after about seven months. Now that we are 25, she still gets pretty upset around the due date of her would-have-been child. She is pretty ashamed of what she did and wishes she would have given up her child instead of terminating the pregnancy. She wants to be a mother soon (she just got married) but her doctors are telling her there is some scarring and it may be difficult to conceive so now she is dealing with that. All-in-all she has had a pretty rough go with a young abortion, but please keep in mind this is one person and one person's plight with it. Abortion is a very personal choice and will affect each person differently. Posted by jennyrocks on Jan 3, 2009. |
