    It's a story of a young man who increasingly distances himself from reality. He does this by falling deeper and deeper into a world within himself.  An imaginary world of snow. 

     If you were to psycho analyze the main charactor you could say he may be autistic.  A person with mild austism feels a deep desire to distance him or herself from authority figures.  The young by in this story does this by only see what he wants to see, that being the silent snow.
