Posted by akannan on Tuesday November 10, 2009 at 3:43 PMWhile Ray is the dreamer who would plow under his most profitable crop in order to pursue a vision, Mark is the cold and calculating force of reality. Mark is driven by profit. His response to Ray's dreams is that the land is worth much more from a monetary point of view than the pursuit of one's dream. This helps bring out his existence from the "cold real world." At the same time, he does bear an aspect of being an intruder for he fails to understand or see the power of the field and the game, walking through it at one point. Finally, his primary motivation of wanting Ray to sell the farm to him would be another example of being an "intruder."
