Were most of his works Auto-biographical?

I am a student at a small town texas highschool and I am doing a research project over Sherwood Anderson and my teacher had mentioned to me that the stories that made up Winesburg, Ohio were semi-biographical and i was wondering if anyone had any comment for this especially in the case of the story "Hands".
