“SET YOUR TEETH ON EDGE”

“SET YOUR TEETH ON EDGE,” which appears in Henry the Fourth, Part 1 and The Winter’s Tale, dates from at least the 1535 translation of Jeremiah 31:29: “The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the childrens’ teeth are set on edge.”
