The play Henry VI, Part 3 is part of Shakespeare’s tetralogy* chronicling the English civil conflict known as the WARS OF THE ROSES. The other plays in the series are Henry VI, Part 1; Henry VI, Part 2; and Richard III. Henry VI, Part 3 depicts the battles between King Henry’s house of Lancaster and the rival house of York. The play ends with the assassinations of Henry and his son, Prince Edward, which mark the downfall of the Lancastrians.
