75% of the human body is made up of water.
The main functions of water in living systems are as an effective biological solvent, a reactant molecule in many biological reactions, a temperature regulator, and a pH buffering agent.
Water, without any doubt, must be considered an integral part of biological macromolecules. The living world should be thought of as an equal partnership between proteins, nucleic acids and water.

The proper temperature for a normal functioning of an organism is assured by the water.
The transport of substances from cells to tissues is , once again, realised by the water.
Water si a good solvent for polar substances and assures the existence of enzymatic activity.

A typical man needs about 3.7 liters (one U.S. gallon) per day.
