According to this anthropogenic carbon should mean the carbon generated by human activity. But actually it refers to the carbon-di-oxide (CO2) gas released from burning of carbon in various types of fossil fuels such as coal, petrol and natural gas.
The CO2 so released by human activities such as industrial production, household heating, and transportation gets mixed up in the atmospheric air. A large part of this CO2 then ends up in the ocean water. The increased concentration of CO2 results in green house effect, increasing the average global temperature. Similarly the CO2 in oceans also has considerable harmful effect on marine life as well as for human beings.
