There are five factors that control the rate of a chemical reaction including the nature of the reactants, their concentration, catalysts, surface area, and temperature.  A chemical reaction happens when the molecules of two different reactants collide with enough energy to break apart.  Temperature effects the number and strength of the molecular collisions.  The warmer the reactants the more the molecules move causing more frequent and stronger collisions, thus the warmer the reactants, the quicker the production rate of the reaction.  Again, while temperature can increase the rate of production, the other factors can influence how much of an increase in production a warmer temperature is able to cause.
