    The equations and formulas for reaction of acetaldehyde after oxidisation converting to acetic acid or ethanoic acid is below:

    This is the laboratory preparation of  acetic(ethnoic) acid by oxidising acetaldehyde or ethanal, with potassium dichromate and concentrated sulphuric acid:

    K2Cr2O7+4H2SO4---->K2SO4+Cr2(SO4)3+4H2O+3{O]

    C2H5OH(ethanol)+[O]--------->CH3-CHO (ethanal) +  H2O

    CH3-CHO (ethanal) +[O]   --->    CH3-COOH (ehanoic acid)
