I am in need of some stimulating DVD's on wild weather occurrences suitable for students in the 10 to 12-year-old range.  Are you aware of a website or foundation that provides DVD's with the same caliber and quality of footage seen on cable TV and the Weather Channel?  If so, could you forward any information that you have to me, please?  Thank you!

National Geographic has a few DVD's that are fairly good.  One is entitled "Nature's Fury," which covers a variety of natural disasters such as tornado sitings as well as earthquake analysis.  I heard they produced another one on the 2004 Tsunami in South East Asia which was supposed to be quite good.  Perhaps, these might be a good starting point.

I don't know any by name, but you should check the Discovery Channel website for ideas.  They are a wealth of ideas, have lots of videos in part or full, and you can stream directly from their website if you have United Streaming accounts at your school.  They also have a plethora of unit plans and single lessons to go with their video clips.  They are arranged by topic, grade level, and even state standards.

Also, the Eyewitness videos are really good. I've used some of their Earth Science and animal videos with students before. These videos can be purchased online or often through educational catalogues.
