I'm not sure if there is a name for it either, but I did a quick bit of research and found a fabulous website you might be interested in...check out the link below to see if you can find your phobia on the "Phobia List". http://www.phobialist.com/ Also, continue searching here at enotes for your answers. There are lots of entries in the science category which may interest you and help you understand your concerns. I have included a link to "phobia" on the psychology encyclopedia here at Enotes. Good Luck, and thanks for using Enotes! Posted by amy-lepore on Jun 29, 2008. |

I found a web site that lists the names of dozens of phobias, but not one of them is a fear of losing one's memory. Whatever you call it, however, you're not the only person who has that fear. (I'm very close to 50, and I'll admit that every time I work to remember something I start to wonder about myself!). In the sources section, I've pasted a link to a newspaper article that discusses this very fear. Although the article is about the baby-boomer generation, it has some good advice for you and other young people about how to strengthen your mental reserves through diet, exercise, and other "life choices." The most important thing for you to do now is to live your life without fear of what might happen 50 or 60 years from now. You're very young. Enjoy!! Posted by linda-allen on Jun 30, 2008. |
