That's a really good question -- one that should/will probably get put over on the discussion boards. Nuclear fission/fusion is the perfect example of this, I'd think. And it's easier to say what you shouldn't do rather than what you should. 1. You can't just say "okay, we're going to suppress knowledge of this so no one will ever be able to use this." It's impossible to do that -- someone someday will surely figure it out again. 2. What we've tried to do is say "we have this, and it's bad. Only the people who already have it can keep it -- the rest of you, please don't try to get it." That doesn't work so well either because some of the people who don't have it (Iran, North Korea) will want to get it. So what would work? I have no idea. That's a really good question...
