The Plant World - How Did The Navel Orange Originate?
How did the navel orange originate?
Every navel orange is a descendant of one mutant tree that appeared on a plantation in Brazil in the early nineteenth century. A bud from the mutant tree was grafted (implanted) onto another tree; that tree's branches were then grafted onto another, and so forth.
