The Human Body - What Is The Purpose Of Goose Bumps?

What is the purpose of goose bumps?

When a person is confronted with fear or cold, muscle fibers contract in the skin, forming goose bumps (also called goose flesh). This muscular activity produces heat, and thus raises the body temperature.
