What is the medical term for tennis elbow?

The technical term for tennis elbow is epicondylitis. It is a painful inflammation of the muscle and tissues surrounding the elbow that results from a recurrent strain on the forearm. There are several behaviors that can bring on tennis elbow, including playing tennis, playing golf, or carrying a heavy load with one's arm extended.
