What is the composition of cigarette smoke?

Cigarette smoke contains about 4,000 chemicals. Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, methane, and nicotine are some of the major components. Minor components include acetone, acetylene, formaldehyde, propane, hydrogen cyanide, toluene, and many others.
