What is contained in the time capsule buried at the site of the New York World's Fair in 1940?
The contents fall into five categories:
- Small items of common use—Eyeglasses, nail file, safety pin, etc.
- Textiles and materials—Cloth, iron, aluminum, leather, paper, coal.
- Miscellaneous items—U.S. money, seeds, books.
- An essay in microfilm—Books, pictures, and speeches that give a description of the world in 1940.
- Newsreel—Characteristic or significant scenes of 1940 in sound film.
