Food and Nutrition - What Is The Beverage Known As Moxie™?
What is the beverage known as Moxie™?
Moxie™ is the tradename for a fairly tart or bitter soft drink which, in the 1880s, was one of the most popular sodas in the United States. The drink originated in 1885 in the form of a concentrated tonic, bottled by the Moxie Nerve Food Company of Lowell, Massachusetts. Soon thereafter, carbonation was added. The word "Moxie" has come to mean "courage," "nerve," or "shrewdness."
