Which animal species have become extinct since the Endangered Species Act was passed in 1973?

Seven domestic species have been declared extinct: Florida's dusky seaside sparrow, the Santa Barbara song sparrow, the Tecopa pupfish, the Sampson's pearly mussel, and the following fish species—the blue pike, the longjaw cisco, and the Amistad gambusic.

A total of 13 species have been removed from the federal endangered and threatened species list since 1973. This number includes the seven extinct species listed above plus five species that are no longer endangered: bald eagle, peregrine falcon, alligator, gray whale, and grizzly bear.
