Energy - Which Nuclear Reactors Have Had Accidents?
Which nuclear reactors have had accidents?
Nuclear power was once viewed as a promising solution to the United States' energy crisis. However, a series of accidents has soured that promise. Varying amounts of radiation have been released in a series of accidents, spanning the years from 1955 to 1986. Since the 1979 Three Mile Island accident in Harrisburgh, Pennsylvania, no new nuclear power plants have been developed in the United States. The plans to construct 65 new plants were canceled.
