During the nineteenth century, cows hauled mail wagons in some towns in Germany. Camels were used in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. In Russia and Scandinavia, reindeer pulled mail sleighs. The Belgian city of Liege even tried cats, but they proved to be unreliable.
