Static Electricity | Design Your Own Experiment
Design Your Own Experiment
How to Select a Topic Relating to this Concept
You can explore many other aspects of static electricity. For example, why does static electricity occur in some situations and not in others? What kinds of materials are more likely to have a positive or a negative charge? How does the humidity in the air affect static electricity? How do static charges affect electrical equipment?
As you consider possible experiments, be sure to discuss them with your science teacher or another knowledgeable adult before trying them. While static electricity usually involves a small electric charge (except for lightning!), experiments with electricity are potentially dangerous. NEVER experiment with lightning or the electric current that comes from electrical outlets.
