When food has spoiled it is usually noticeable to your senses of smell and sight. Spoilage is when food has taken on an undesirable color, odor, or texture. Eating spoiled food can result in food poisoning, which can cause vomiting, nausea, and more severe symptoms. There are two main causes of natural food spoilage: microscopic organisms and chemical changes.
