Purpose/Hypothesis

Groups are columns running down the periodic table. In this experiment you are determining an element's solubility. Solubility is the ability of a substance to dissolve in a liquid. For example, sugar dissolves in water and is therefore called soluble in water. Chocolate chips mixed with water do not dissolve and are called insoluble in water. Solubility is one of the properties that relates to the location of the element in the periodic table.
