Optics and Optical Illusions - Design Your Own Experiment

Design Your Own Experiment

How to Select a Topic Relating to this Concept

If you are interested in optics, you could further investigate kinds of lenses. You could examine reflection and refraction with mirrors or prisms, which bend light and separate out the different wavelengths so you can see different colors. You could study the effects of polarizers, which line up different wavelengths of light, creating interesting effects, like the polarizing filters used on cameras.

If you are interested in optical instruments, you can build your own camera or investigate telescopes, microscopes, and magnifying lenses. You can explore illusions involving color, movement, and three-dimensional objects. Or you could explore the work of M.C. Escher, who drew pictures that confuse the mind.
