Young Artist Competition

(Postgraduate/Prize)

Purpose: Created in 1956, the contest is designed to discover and encourage exceptional young talented musicians ages 15-26 through a regional competition. Applicants submit taped performances. From that group, selected participants compete in the semi-finals with finalists advancing to the last round. Applicant must play an instrument which has a permanent chair in the Minnesota orchestra. Only students or legal residents of Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ontario and Manitoba are eligible. Application fee is $65. Focus: Performing Arts Qualif.: Applicant must be: 15-26 years old. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 9. Maximum no. of awards: 14. Minimum award amount: $500. Maximum award amount: $5250. No. and Amount Awarded Last Calendar Year: 12 prize(s), totalling $12,000.
