Federal Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship-Indiana

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: Scholarship is designed to recognize academic achievement and requires a minimum SAT score of 1300 or ACT score of 31, or recent GED score of 65. The scholarship is awarded equally among Indiana's congressional districts. The amount of the scholarship varies depending upon federal funding and is automatically renewed if the institution's satisfactory academic progress requirements are met. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Hoosier Scholar Award

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: The Hoosier Scholar Award is a $500 nonrenewable award. Based on the size of the senior class, one to three scholars are selected by the guidance counselor(s) of each accredited high school in Indiana. The award is based on academic merit and may be used for any educational expense at an eligible Indiana institution of higher education. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Indiana Freedom of Choice Grant

(Four Year College, University/Grant)

Purpose: The Freedom of Choice Grant is a need-based, tuition-restricted program for students attending Indiana private institutions seeking a first undergraduate degree. It is awarded in addition to the Higher Education Award. Students (and parents of dependent students) who are U.S. citizens and Indiana residents must file the FAFSA yearly by the March 10 deadline. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Indiana Higher Education Award

Purpose: The Higher Education Award is a need-based, tuition-restricted program for students attending Indiana public, private, or proprietary institutions seeking a first undergraduate degree. Students (and parents of dependent students) who are U.S. citizens and Indiana residents must file the FAFSA yearly by the March 10 deadline. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Funds Avail.: Minimum no. of awards: 38000. Maximum no. of awards: 43660. Minimum award amount: $200. Maximum award amount: $4700. Indiana Minority Teacher and Special Education Services Scholarship Program

(Four Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: For Black or Hispanic students seeking teaching certification or for students seeking special education teaching certification or occupational or physical therapy certification. Must be a U.S. citizen and Indiana resident enrolled full-time in an eligible Indiana institution. Must teach in an Indiana-accredited elementary or secondary school after graduation. Contact institution for application and deadline. Minimum 2.0 GPA required. Focus: Education; Special Education; Therapy/Rehabilitation Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. Award available to the following races: African American; Hispanic.

Indiana National Guard Supplemental Grant

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Grant)

Purpose: The award is a supplement to the Indiana Higher Education Grant program. Applicants must be members of the Indiana National Guard. All Guard paperwork must be completed prior to the start of each semester. The FAFSA must be received by March 10. Award covers certain tuition and fees at select public colleges. Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens. Award available to members of the following branches of the military: Air National Guard, Army National Guard.

Indiana Nursing Scholarship Fund

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University/Scholarship)

Purpose: Need-based tuition funding for nursing students enrolled full- or part-time at an eligible Indiana institution. Must be a U.S. citizen and an Indiana resident and have a minimum 2.0 GPA or meet the minimum requirements for the nursing program. Upon graduation, recipients must practice as a nurse in an Indiana health care setting for two years. Focus: Nursing Qualif.: High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Part-time Grant Program

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Grant)

Purpose: Program is designed to encourage part-time undergraduates to start and complete their associate or baccalaureate degrees or certificates by subsidizing part-time tuition costs. It is a term-based award that is based on need. State residency requirements must be met and a FAFSA must be filed. Eligibility is determined at the institutional level subject to approval by SSACI. Qualif.: Applicant must be: part-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.

Twenty-first Century Scholars Award

(Four Year College, Two Year College, University, Vocational/Occupational/Scholarship)

Purpose: Income-eligible 7th graders who enroll in the program, fulfill a pledge of good citizenship, and complete the Affirmation Form are guaranteed tuition for four years at any participating public institution. If the student attends a private institution, the state will award an amount comparable to that of a public institution. If the student attends a participating proprietary school, the state will award a tuition scholarship equal to that of Ivy Tech State College. FAFSA and affirmation form must be filed yearly by March 10. Applicant must be resident of Indiana. Qualif.: Applicant must be: full-time student. High school students not considered. Award available to U.S. citizens.
